My review of hair extensions from USAhair.com
There are some products that you just have to do a lot of research on before making a purchase online. And one of those in hair extensions! Especially if it is your first time buying them. So, that is why I’m putting this review/help article together. To help condense some of the research and to offer personal experience to anyone who might be reading this! I’ve done this with several other products in all different categories! So hopefully this is helpful.
Ever since I started dieting and exercising, I noticed that my hair was getting thinner and I was losing chunks of hair everyday. Probably because I was restricting my diet too much and was eating less healthy fats and as you know our hair health stats from within. I started incorporating more healthy fats in my diet like salmon, whole eggs, nuts and seeds and I am starting to see an improvement in my hair density. However, this process is really slow and I needed something to fix my thinning hair issues faster. I searched online for an answer as we all do and I found hair extensions. I had no idea how popular and how many people wear them everyday. I thought hair extensions were only used by celebrities and were hard to find, but I was wrong.
After checking online reviews of a few websites and prices, I decided to order clip in extensions from USAHAIR.COM
If you are like me and have no idea what are clips in extensions, I will try to explain the concept. Basically, they are hair extensions that you attach to your own hair with the help of small clips.
These clips open and close, just like how a regular hair clip or a hair claw works. What is great about them and why I choose them, is that they are not permanent. You can put them on and remove them as you please. They are the perfect extensions for a lazy girl like me. There’s no commitment, sometimes I go days without wearing them. I love that I get to choose when I want that fuller and longer hair look. From what I read, they are the most popular ones and I can decently see why.
I went ahead and bought the Ombre Blonde Clip in Extensions. While you can choose from a few different lengths, the 18 inch length is exactly what I needed. They offered 14’, and 22’’, but since my hair is already long and only needed more volume I chose the length that was the closest to my natural hair. I also got to choose the thicker clip in extensions, they have 3 different densities or thickness available whether you have fine or thick hair. Make sure you read the product description to know what to get according to your hair type, hair cut and such. They also offer 30 different colors to choose from, so you will most likely find yours.
And let me tell you, I am SO HAPPY with my purchase. Not only do I love them, I spent under $100 for them too! Please tell me where else you can find that. I’ll wait. I’ve done my research online. Sure you can find some that are sold on some Chinese website and that will fall apart in a few days. But I’ve had these a couple months already and they are still like new.
Here’s what I really liked not only about the clip in hair extensions, but about my experience with USA Hair:
Before placing my order I was not sure about my hair color, there was a section on the website dedicated to finding your hair color. You can either order samples for $1 or send an email with a picture of your hair and someone from their customer service will provide a color recommendation. In my case, I sent a photo of my hair since I needed them urgently and did not want to wait to get samples delivered. I got a reply within a few hours and I was suggested the color Ombre Blonde.
In addition to the affordable price, there’s coupons you can use, these are on the website. I hate when I have to look and dig through the internet for a coupon code. Here you don’t have to do it, they are all on the website.
I paid zero for shipping! Who else just loves free shipping? I can’t explain why, but I just get a happy feeling when I order something and the shipping is free.
Before placing my order I created an account, I always do this on each website I purchase from just to have a history of the products I order. Another perk of having an account with USA Hair is that you get to collect points with each purchase and these points convert into discounts. It does not require more than a minute to set up and you get to save some coins. I love giving you guys tips on how to save on different products.
My order got shipped the next day with FedEx and got a tracking number as well.
I received my order 4 days later, it included a free detangling brush and brochure type of document that explains how to care for my clip in extensions.
In my reviews I try to give as many details as possible to make sure that I reach everyone reading. I am not a hairdresser, but perhaps one of you is. They offer discounts for hairdressers, I don’t have more details regarding this since I am not in this field, but you can contact them for more information.
I know I ordered clips in extensions, but there’s also many other kinds you can purchase.They offer tape in extensions, weaves extensions, micro-bead extensions, fusion extensions… I am not sure what each one is exactly other than they are permanent extensions but I thought it would help you to know what other hair extensions they have.
I will probably get a ponytail extension and a wig just for fun and I will definitely review them as well.
Now getting back to my clip in extensions, at first I was nervous to install them on my own so I went to my friend that has a home salon to help me install them for the first time. It was so easy and I could have easily done it on my own like I do now, but since I am very anxious and nervous about the smallest things I got scared. I installed them on my own many times since then and let me tell you, it's very easy. You don’t need to worry about that and the best thing is that you will get better at putting them on. I know the shape of my head and where each piece goes now and it takes me like 2 minutes to put them.
Regarding comfort, they are comfortable for everyday use and I often forget that I have them on, you just need to remove them before going to bed.
I can style my hair extensions in a low bun, I can braid my hair, curl it, wear it in a ponytail…they are versatile and don’t require you to have your hair down all the time.
Most importantly, they are very easy and stress free in terms of hair care. I dread washing my own hair so imagine washing hair extensions. I hardly wash them, I know it might sound gross, but that’s what is recommended for clip in extensions. I sent an email to USA HAIR asking about the frequency of the washes and they told me the less I wash them the longer they will last. You see hair extensions can’t get oily or dirty like our hair, they are not attached to our roots. I had them for 5 months and I washed them twice, keep in mind that I don’t wear them every single day.
One last point I would like to adresse is the return policy, you can return your order without paying out of your pocket, in fact USA HAIR pays for your return fees and there’s no restocking fee or any other hidden fee, you will get 100% of your money back. However, like I previously said I looked at multiple other websites and it seems like that in this industry the common return practice is that you can not use the product and then return it. In fact, you can only send back your order if you have not opened and used your hair extensions. On their website they explain that this is due to the hygienic nature of the product, I completely understand since I don’t want to get a product that was used on someone else's head for god knows how long and god knows if that person has something contagious going on. Keep that in mind when you order hair extensions online, if the seller takes back used hair extensions you will most likely receive a used product as well, but like I said most reputable and popular websites don’t take back used hair extensions, so that's a plus in my opinion that guarantees the safety of your product. If you are worried about the color not matching, there’s a tester strand of hair included that you can see and touch and compare it to your own hair color. If it matches, you can open your hair extensions and if it does not you can send them back.
